Visual Assembly as a Playground. Student Intern Opportunities.
Together with WikiHouse and OpenLab, we are looking for a student or intern with an architectural background who would be interested in helping us further develop our playground as a Visual Assembly project in Saint Vincent (and other places). You will have the opportunity to work alongside Alastair Parvin, a renowned British architect and co-founder of WikiHouse, whose work focuses on open-source, sustainable, and community-led design. Participation may also include a trip to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in December 2025.
– Graphic presentation skills, able to produce good clear drawings and design graphics for communicating both ideas and technical designs, including to non-experts (for examples assembly manuals) (eg illustrator)
– 3D modelling skills (At least sketchup, rhino, fusion or similar)
– Practical, product-development mindset. experience in finding and specifying materials and components, and even physically building and testing prototypes, with consideration to cost and availability.
– A natural doer-deliverer, being self-led, so they’re happy going away to work solo, then just having regular check-ins with a wider team.
– Good understanding of basic structural engineering principles
Nice to haves:
– High level of assiduousness when it comes to researching and documenting regulatory constraints around a project.
– Experience working with parametric tools such as grasshopper.
– Excellent written and spoken communication skills, able to produce and deliver slide decks to a range of audiences.
