Renowned feminist activist and author Silvia Federici will join Seminars of Care in February

Silvia Federici is an Italian and American scholar, teacher, and activist from the radical autonomist feminist Marxist and anarchist tradition. She will be joining Elke Krasny and Nika Dubrovsky for the second part of the David Graeber Institute’s Seminars of Care on 24 February, 2024 at 18:00 (London time).

Silvia’s books and essays focus on political philosophy, feminist theory, feminist movements and struggles and she has lectured in Universities in the US, Europe Africa and South America. She is Emerita Professor of Political Philosophy and International Studies at Hofstra University (Hempstead, New York). Some of her publications include Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body and Primitive Accumulation (2004), Re-enchanting the World: Feminism and the Politics of the Commons (2018), Witches, Witch-Hunting, and Women (2018) and Beyond the periphery of the skin: rethinking, remaking, reclaiming the body in contemporary capitalism (2020). She will be joining Elke Krasny (cultural and architectural theorist, urban researcher, curator, and author) and Nika Dubrovsky (artist and co-founder of the David Graeber Institute) for the second part of Seminars of Care, which will focus on Marxist feminists’ analyses of caring labor and David Graeber’s proposal to integrate it all into a new form of labor theory of value.
